The Chinese market continues to grow for Audi

As one of the members of the board of Audi described the news that sales of the brand’s models in China had risen by 29%, “truly unexpected”, while in other markets, such as North America, the trend is downward.
For us to realise that the Chinese market is going to swallow the rest in the future, Audi has sold 140,000 vehicles in China since January. At this rate, the German brand is expected to place around 250,000 units by 2012 or mid-2013.
The explanation is very simple: China is going through one of the most prosperous stages of its nascent capitalism and making car ownership far more widespread. While the Chinese market was not even counted in the statistics years ago, today brands are literally fighting for a place or a distribution network within that market.
