The defenders of speed cameras exist too

Most of us tend to think that speed cameras are a perfect means for governments to rake in money left and right, but there are people who believe the opposite. In Great Britain, where the Big Brother culture is so widespread, some speed cameras have been removed due to lack of budget, and there are those who are calling for them to be reinstalled.

Due to budget cuts, several counties in Great Britain have decided to put a number of speed camera installations out of service. But the defenders of these devices say that lives will be put at risk by removing the cameras from the roads.

The Automobile Association of Great Britain has requested “urgent meetings” with authorities to review the removal of the cameras. The truth is that all of this is not because they have acknowledged that the cameras don’t help, but rather it is due to the blessed crisis, through lack of money for maintenance and renewal of equipment.

I think this debate looks set to have no end, not only in Spain, but in all countries that use this unpopular method to lower mortality rates.
