The judges of the design contest organized at the Los Angeles Auto Show had a difficult job choosing this year’s winner, since among the varied concepts presented two standouts emerged.

For that reason, they had no better option than to declare the Cadillac Aera and the Smart 454 WWT the contest winners. Let’s recall that this year’s theme for the competition was to create a supremely efficient and lightweight four-seater (not exceeding 454 kg) for the future.

Based on the guidelines mentioned, the Cadillac Aera manages to maintain the size of a traditional saloon, this is because the concept uses a polyhedral configuration similar to those found in nature, and as an interesting example, the clustering of bubbles is mentioned.

That is, the structure of the car (including the interior) is characterized by the use of completely lightweight materials, which come from a special alloy.

On the other hand, the Smart 454 WWT is a vehicle manufactured by high-tech robots, which use carbon fibre for most of its structure, for that reason each part of the concept is made from the exact material, thus achieving a perfect balance between weight and performance.
