The electric Think! temporarily halts production

One of the few battery-powered cars still on the road in Spain today, the Think!, has halted production in Norway as Valmet Automotive has announced that Think! is running out of funds. Or, more bluntly, that the Finnish company is once again heading for bankruptcy.

Very cleverly, Valmet has made sure not to keep producing the plastic electric car, given Think!’s precarious financial situation. Halting production in Norway would mean that every market receiving body shells of the small car to be assembled locally, such as the USA, will have to take a break until Think!’s situation is resolved.

For now, the Think! City has found its way onto Spanish roads thanks to the electrification of corporate fleets. This is the case of the electricity companies Iberdrola and Red Eléctrica, which have opted for the Think to electrify part of their fleet, and whose first units are already circulating through the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao as part of an ambitious plan to replace 40% of their vehicles with electric models in the coming years.
