The Equus Throwback is the Chevrolet Corvette supercharged with the 1,000 hp we were all expecting

Equus has just announced the arrival of its new Throwback, a vehicle based on the Chevrolet Corvette. This time it is capable of producing 1,000 hp

We often turn to tuners or outside companies to squeeze every last drop of sportiness out of our vehicle, even though its standard performance is already quite impressive. Then we come across the case of Equus Automotive, a company whose aim is to offer a range of muscle cars on a par with the most chaste supercars in the world. They demonstrate this with the Equus Throwback, an American-brand vehicle that has taken several elements of the Chevrolet Corvette and pushed them to another level.

Equus has chosen to take everything good that the Chevrolet supercar offers but endow it with an unprecedented level of exclusivity. This is reflected in a series of changes that have little or nothing to do with a mere restyling of the Corvette. Specifically, we find a complete redesign of the exterior and several new features in the cabin but, without a doubt, the most interesting thing is the mechanical side of this new Equus.

Aesthetically, we find a design that perfectly blends classic features with more current and modern ones. The front has a more contemporary air, something it achieves by keeping several elements from the Corvette intact, such as the headlights and the powerful, imposing bonnet that houses the “supercharged” heart of this Equus creation. As for the rear, we find four rear lights with a much more retro essence, which are accompanied by three huge exhaust outlets.

Inside, this is where we can see the most similarities with the Chevrolet Corvette. The cabin keeps the same structure, steering wheel and, at the same time, infotainment system. The main novelty is the use of Alcantara to trim all the elements that bring the interior of the Throwback to life, along with the brand’s emblem, which accentuates the sporty character of this new vehicle. But, as we have already mentioned, the American company has saved the best for the mechanics.

If we lift the bonnet of the Equus, we find the same 6.2-litre V8 engine that powers the Corvette, except that on this occasion the brand has increased the power to 1,000 hp and the torque to 1,114 Nm. These figures translate into an acceleration to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 350 km/h.

Without a doubt, Equus has done a great job with this conversion of the Chevrolet Corvette, as it has managed to achieve much greater performance in every respect and, at the same time, give it a unique character with its eye-catching styling. At the same time, this muscle car can be yours for a figure starting at $130,000, that is, €105,000 at current exchange rates.
