The Hummer EV could come in a smaller version

The success of the Hummer’s return as an electric pick-up truck has been a complete success. Not only has it won the approval of many fans of the original model, but it has also received a large number of orders from people who want to enjoy the electric version. 90,000 orders have been received, of which around 1,000 units have already been delivered. This success has led to an SUV version coming soon, but a smaller version is also under consideration.

The European market could be the target of this new version of the Hummer EV. The dimensions of the original Hummer EV are a problem for European countries and even pose issues with driving licences. In Spain, for example, this model cannot be driven with a category B licence, which is the most common one in our country, because the vehicle weighs more than 3,500 kg.

GM has not wished to comment on this possibility, but according to several US media outlets, the company is already working on the design of this new version in California. It was Auto News that reported this possibility, and this has sparked the interest of many fans of the model in the European market.

The design of the smaller version is not known, but it is expected to be not very different from the existing one, which is one of the elements that attracts buyers’ interest. Nothing is known either about the electric motors this future variant will have, although there are some details that can be taken as certain.

One of them will be the use of GM’s Ultium platform, on which the batteries and motors that other company models already use would be mounted. This will make it possible to cut costs and make the vehicle not only more manageable but also lower in price. This will allow it to reach more places and make it easier to win over markets other than the American one.

We will have to wait a little until the news is confirmed, but if true, we could soon have this version on Spanish roads, something that will not be easy to see with the current model.
