BYD will arrive in Europe with five electric models in 2023

The Chinese brand is preparing its arrival in several European countries with up to five electric models, which will arrive over the course of next year, 2023.

Chinese manufacturers are approaching the European market and are ready to present several electric models that will win a significant market share there. The manufacturer BYD has just announced that it will reach several European Union markets within a few months with up to five electric vehicles, so soon we will have more options for moving into increasingly accessible electric mobility.

To begin with, three models will be the manufacturer’s entry into Europe. These models will be the Atto 3, Tang and Han. After the launch of these first three models, the brand wants Europeans to get to know the Seal, a saloon already sold in China that is meant to compete with the Tesla Model 3.

The fifth model to reach the continent, although not confirmed, would be the Dolphin, another vehicle we have already discussed on other occasions. The first three models also feature a plug-in hybrid drive system, but it is the last two that represent an advance in electric mobility for the company.

The Seal and the Dolphin are built on the 3.0 platform of BYD. This allows both cars to use 800-volt technology, which considerably reduces battery charging time. BYD uses LFP cells developed in-house, which in the case of the Seal are integrated into the vehicle’s own structure, reducing the vehicle’s total weight and improving its efficiency.

In the Chinese market, the BYD Seal is offered with two batteries. The first version of the vehicle uses one of 60 kWh and is equipped with a 150 kW motor located on the rear axle. The other variant uses an 82 kWh battery and the motor reaches 230 kW of power.

The company is already established in Norway, but will soon expand its reach with its arrival in the markets where electric cars are growing the most, such as Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg. Spain, for the time being, is outside its plans.
