The Kia Picanto 2017 previews details of its new look

The Kia Picanto is already in the final days of the current generation, the second. The small city car first appeared in 2004 and since then has become one of the most popular cars of the South Korean brand, whose sales have been one of the strongest arguments behind the brand’s commercial success. It has not stayed the same throughout its life; it has received several changes over the years, culminating in this third edition.

The Kia Picanto received an update in 2007, and another, more radical one, in 2009. It was not until two years later, in 2011, that the second generation arrived, which marked a step forward both externally and internally. In fact, the length of the car grew from the 3,495 mm of the first generation to the 3,535 mm of the generation currently on the market.

We have some sketches of what the next generation will be. There are no photos yet of the model that will arrive over the coming months, so we have to make do with these drawings which, although not final images, can help us make clear that we are about to see a new model that will replace the current version.

One of the things we can highlight about this new Kia Picanto is its bolder and more striking front end, which aims to lift the car’s look to a higher level. At least, aesthetically. The brand wants the buyers who notice it to be younger, which is why it uses this dynamic, characterful styling. The colour palette will follow this same path and encourage younger drivers to get behind the wheel of this car.

Inside, Kia aims to be as attractive as the exterior. To that end it will incorporate some of the technological features found in higher-end models, which allow these small city cars to offer the technology options present across the brand’s range. What we see in the images is the car with five-door bodywork, although we can assume a three-door version will also be available. We will know soon enough, and in the meantime, let’s see how this third generation of the Picanto looks.
