The latest news from Ford in Detroit: the new Mustang Bullit and the Edge ST
At the Detroit Motor Show, Ford has unveiled the new Ford Bullit and its first SUV developed by Ford Performance, the Edge ST.
Ford has presented two very special vehicles at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS): the limited edition Ford Mustang Bullit, a car commemorating the film that bears its name, and the Ford Edge ST, the first Ford SUV to have been prepared by the brand’s sports division, Ford Performance.

The new Ford Mustang Bullit features a 5.0-litre V8 engine that has been modified to deliver 475 CV of power and 569 Nm of torque. With this engine, the new Bullit reaches a top speed of 262 km/h. This model is also equipped with a manual gearbox and an active valve exhaust system that produces the striking crackles and pops typical of this type of vehicle.
Standard equipment on this model includes a fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster. The car will go on sale in the United States this summer.

The new Ford Edge ST was also presented in Detroit as the first crossover to roll off the production lines of Ford Performance. Unfortunately, it will not be arriving in Europe soon, but it will be sold in the US from this summer. The car will initially be offered in the following versions: Vignale (elegant), ST-Line (sporty), Titanium and Trend. It will reach the market with new high-performance diesel engines, a more dynamic design and the latest driver-assistance technologies.

The car comes as standard with a 2.7-litre Ecoboost V6 engine that produces 335 CV of power and 515 Nm of torque. This engine offers some of the most revolutionary technologies in its segment, including the Evasive Steering Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering. The new Ford Edge also introduces an eight-speed automatic gearbox, a ST sport suspension (with a stiffer setup than the standard one) and a sport driving mode that modifies several vehicle functions so the driver experiences a more dynamic drive.

In terms of design, the car features a new front and rear bumper, widened wheel arches and twin exhaust pipes. The car comes with alloy wheels measuring 21 inches as standard.
