The Mercedes AMG ONE will arrive in 2021
Delays in receiving the first hypercar from Mercedes keep piling up. This time, the German manufacturer has announced that the model will arrive in 2021.
It is no news that the Mercedes AMG ONE has suffered delays. The German manufacturer wants its first hypercar to become a real sensation, and of course, to be free of faults.

Deliveries of the much-anticipated car have been delayed once again, this time until the year 2021. The reason behind this lies in the complications that have arisen with the engine derived from the Formula 1 that the hypercar incorporates. This has been confirmed by Mercedes.
In the words of Michael Knoller, Product Director of Mercedes AMG:
“When you build a street-legal car that incorporates Formula 1 technology, there are many difficulties to face and many regulations to overcome. It has been hard, but now we are confident that with this new delay, we will be able to deliver the car in perfect working order.”
Some of the challenges the manufacturer faces also have to do with the hypercar’s engine speeds. The brand is seeking a perfect combination with these so that they comply with emissions standards. The goal is for it to reach 1,200 rpm at idle.

In Formula 1, the cars never drop below 5,000 rpm, and trying to imitate this in a road car brings the corresponding problems…

The long-awaited Mercedes AMG ONE will share part of its engine with the 2017 F1 team car. This translates into a 1.6-litre V6 hybrid. It will use the same electric turbocharger, MGU-K as the electric motor, and liquid-cooled batteries.
It will also have only one seat and will incorporate a pair of extra MGU-K motors at the front to further improve torque.

Rumours suggest it will reach 11,000 rpm. The Formula 1 car reaches 14,000 rpm.
The model is said to exceed the 1,000 CV barrier. Mercedes claims the model will be capable of going from 0 to 200 km/h in under six seconds. Its top speed will exceed 350 km/h.
