Mercedes-Benz continues to update the engine line-up of the smallest models in its product range. Following the facelift that the Mercedes A-Class 2016 received last June, the improvements to the top-of-the-range engines, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo with 381 CV, have reached its siblings, the CLA and the GLA, which in their AMG versions will now feature this powerful engine. Now, the rest of the engines are updated too, including the B-Class as part of this move, as well as new technological equipment.

Starting with the latter point, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, CLA and GLA will now feature adaptive suspension and the Dynamic Select function, which allows drivers to choose between four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual, while the compact SUV also adds an Off-road mode. With the start of the new year, all three models will add Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink compatibility to their equipment, features that will also be available on the A-Class 2016.

As for the engine range, Daimler adds a new entry-level engine to the B-Class, the B 160, which features a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 102 CV and 180 Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 km/h. The new B 180 d BlueEFFICIENCY Edition is also added, with a 1.5-litre diesel engine of Renault origin delivering 109 CV and 260 Nm of torque. These figures allow it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 189 km/h, with a consumption of 3.6 litres per 100 km and emissions of 94 g/km.

Moving on to the CLA Shooting Brake, the diesel engine range now consists of the CLA 180 d, the CLA 200 d 4MATIC and the CLA 220 4MATIC, while the petrol CLA 250 Sport and CLA 250 Sport 4MATIC now have 7 CV more, bringing them to 225 CV. Last but not least, the GLA SUV gets an extra 7 CV in the 220 d, bringing it to 184 CV, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 223 km/h.
