EQA Mercedes Electric Cars SUV
The Mercedes-Benz EQA, the brand's next electric model, is already finalising its development phase
Mercedes-Benz continues expanding its EQ family, a milestone that will take place after the arrival of the EQA, a model that is already under development

The Mercedes-Benz EQ family arrived on the market with clear intentions of staying and expanding without hesitation, a task its next member will fulfil. Indeed, the arrival of a 100% electric model based on the A-Class had already been predicted, an idea that changed slightly when the starting point shifted from a compact car to an SUV. The engineers at the star brand decided to take advantage of the development of the second generation of the GLA to conceive what will be known as the EQA, a model that is already in its final testing phase.
Although the German manufacturer already has experience in creating electric cars, these always need to be subjected to a series of tests. Indeed, the engineers at Mercedes-Benz have travelled to the most remote corners of the planet in search of extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions to measure the capabilities of the new EQA and identify its weak points.
Specifically, they have travelled to Sweden, where extreme cold is proving key to the development of this compact electric SUV. Thanks to the Nordic climate, it is possible to test both the motor and the battery, two key components in electric vehicles that must be able to withstand all kinds of adversity. At the same time, with the arrival of summer, the EQA prototypes will travel to locations where high temperatures are reached.

For now, Mercedes has made sure to keep both the styling and the mechanical side of this new member of the EQ family secret. Nevertheless, given that it shares parts with the GLA, we can expect a number of common design features, where this EQA will stand out mainly at the front, since the grille will be completely closed.
As far as the mechanical side is concerned, we can expect the German firm to offer different power levels. With these, the range will also vary, which could be set at around 300 kilometres in the most modest variant and just over 400 in the top-of-the-range version, alongside outputs of around 250 and 350 CV.

Everything points to the 2020 Paris Motor Show as the occasion on which Mercedes-Benz will take the opportunity to present this new electric vehicle. Nevertheless, to ease the wait, the star brand will show at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show various models that, under the EQ Power name, will come with several plug-in hybrid versions and even a certain sporty character.
