The new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé can now be reserved at the brand’s dealerships

We already saw the new Mercedes-Benz GLC as one of the novelties at the Geneva Motor Show, and now, just a couple of weeks later, we get to know the most stylised version of this SUV.

From the outset, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé presents itself as a less adventurous variant but, at the same time, it appears with a more muscular stance than the Mercedes-Benz GLC bodywork.

But the changes go further.

Mercedes-Benz GLC vs Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé

Although the bonnet and headlights are shared at the front, the differences start with the shape of the grille and how it is divided. Below it, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé features a central line with two teardrop-shaped recesses flanking the number plate.

These two siblings really diverge from the B-pillar, behind the driver, towards the rear.

From the front door, the roof begins a gradual descent, just as one would expect from a coupé line. A silhouette that also looks more streamlined because it dispenses with the roof rails that the Mercedes-Benz GLC does carry.

Naturally, from the first row of seats, the bodywork is modified so that it looks longer and more rounded, thanks to gaining around 10 centimetres. A greater body length which, pending official figures from Mercedes-Benz, which have not been released, exceeds that of the Mercedes-Benz GLC version.

An analysis of the rear photograph makes it clear that these are two completely different vehicles sold under the same name.

The interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé

It is worth noting that the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé integrates two screens into the dashboard: one of 12.3 inches for the instrumentation and another of 7 or 10.25 inches for the MBUX infotainment system, where, if added among the optional extras, the Energizing package can be managed, which includes the massage and tonic function on the front seats, the adjustment and choice of lighting, ambient sound, etc.

The engines of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé

Mercedes-Benz repeats the mechanical offer for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé, with four-cylinder engines of two litres displacement: two petrol units of 197 CV and 320 Nm for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé 200, or 258 CV and 370 Nm for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé 300, both paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid electrical system that acts as a starter and electrical regenerator but does not act on the drivetrain.

As for the diesel engines, for those who still choose to buy a diesel car, there is a choice between the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé 200 d with 163 CV and 360 Nm, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé 220 d with 194 CV and 400 Nm, or the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé 300 dd with 245 CV and 500 Nm. All these diesels feature a NOx catalytic reduction system thanks to the use of AdBlue.

The engine output is transmitted, in every version, to all four wheels thanks to Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic traction system. Additionally, three types of suspension can be chosen: the standard one, another with adaptive electronic dynamic control (Dynamic Body Control), and a third with air springs (Air Body Control). To personalise the car’s response further, it offers up to five driving modes: Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.
