The Mobius One: a vehicle to mobilise Africa

It may seem that the African continent is not a key factor in the automotive industry, since if we talk about an homegrown model, we only have the Perana Z-One.

But if we look closely at news from this industry related to Africa, we find that investments by various brands are already significant enough to start considering the African continent and its emerging industry. Among these new models is the Mobius One, a vehicle that is called the Ford T of this continent.

The Mobius One is a project that has started with the first prototype, and is built by Mobius Motors in Kenya. It is intended to be a versatile all-terrain vehicle, built on an aluminium tubular structure and with quite a generous cargo space.

The result is not flashy, but it is effective on the tracks and trails that can be found day after day across Africa. Mobius Motors does not give any details about the engine or other specifics of the Mobius, so we know no more about it and can only see it in action in a video.

And I can’t help but think of a stretched Citroën 2CV. Perhaps it is a tool similar to what the 2CV was in its day: an affordable car for everyone that puts Africa a little higher within this industry.
