The new Jeep Wrangler arrives: one of the most capable 4x4s

The novelties we will find at this year’s Los Angeles Show are numerous, and among them Jeep could not be missing . The American brand has always been known for offering some of the most capable 4x4s on the market, and this time was no exception. One of the most veteran Jeep models is being renewed but, as it has done since 1987, it keeps the same philosophy. It is the new Jeep Wrangler, which is being updated for 2018.

It will be at the Los Angeles Show where it makes its debut, but before that the American brand wanted to give us some very interesting details about this new vehicle. Just like the Clase G from Mercedes, the Wrangler has kept a very similar look since the first vehicle was produced. This is a fundamental factor in keeping the essence intact, and Jeep has certainly achieved it.

It was in 2007 when the version of the Wrangler we knew until now was presented , and it was ten years later that it was renewed. It still keeps the same structure, but its look is much more in tune with today. We find the iconic Jeep grille at the front with two rounded headlights, but one can notice that the brand has refined certain details.

On the other hand, the new Wrangler grows in size compared with the previous generation. We find a new vehicle that is 71 mm longer in the two-door version and 96 mm longer in the four-door version than the previous model. This will be reflected in the different versions of the Wrangler, which start with the Sport and culminate in the Rubicon.

But the new Wrangler also incorporates new technology inside, and we find elements such as the new Uconnect infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and much more. On the other hand, the new Wrangler has also improved in terms of safety and includes up to 75 new functions in both active and passive safety.

As for its mechanics, we find several engines. The main novelty is that the new Wrangler will feature a hybrid engine, with which it aims to strike the perfect balance between consumption and performance. Another powertrain that will make an appearance in the new Jeep 4×4 will be a 274 CV V6. The brand has confirmed that we will also see a diesel engine powering the new Wrangler over the course of next year, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

For now the brand has made no further statements on the matter, but we will soon have more details once it has been presented. Its price is also a mystery, but we know that production will begin in January of next year—for now only in the USA—and customers will be able to enjoy this new 4×4 very soon.
