The new McLaren mobile phone is as fast, eye-catching and expensive as its road cars
McLaren is a technology company, in any of its disciplines, and the launch of a new mobile phone expands its product catalogue
From toy electric cars to mobile phones, passing through dream high-end sports cars, that is McLaren Automotive, the manufacturer that went from building racing cars in its founder’s workshop to building an empire whose headquarters is a statement of intent in itself.
And it is that in Woking one might think that, rather than a car factory, it is a high-level engineering laboratory, although it is also that, since at the McLaren Technology Centre the future of the automotive industry is addressed from the forefront of technology.
But besides cars, components, systems and other elements typical of the automotive industry, McLaren offers other products to which it contributes its manufacturing know-how, providing part of the technology but, above all, instilling its exclusive and luxurious touch.
This is the case of the OnePlus 6T McLaren, the mobile phone from McLaren in collaboration with the mobile phone company OnePlus. A model that is only the first to be launched following the long-term collaboration agreement signed between both brands.

This handset combines elegance, design and dynamism, as if it were one of the dazzling McLaren cars, but transferred to the world of mobile devices.
In fact, it is an ultra-fast smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 10GB of RAM and, in addition, it features the high-speed battery charging system Warp Charge 30, which can fully charge this McLaren phone in just 20 minutes.
The reason the waiting time to store all the electricity it is capable of holding is reduced is the fact of incorporating new integrated circuits, both in the charger and in the phone, and the power management software that allow up to 30 watts of power to flow through the device without slowing it down, even while in use, or overheating.
Thanks to the signature McLaren orange, named papaya orange, this device features a stripe that evokes the brand’s signature colour. Moreover, as a product of this manufacturer, it is structured in line with the architecture of sports cars since the pattern beneath the black glass of the phone is based on the innovative carbon fibre of McLaren, a material found in all McLaren vehicles since 1981, when it was introduced in the single-seaters competing in Formula 1.
The McLaren mobile phone will be on sale from 13 December and can be purchased in Western Europe and North America, with availability in India, China and the Nordic countries later on. The price of this OnePlus 6T McLaren will be £646, at the current exchange rate, 734 euros.
