The next Nissan GT-R would not yet have the green light
According to certain rumours, Nissan has delayed development of the next generation of the GT-R. Carlos Ghosn has yet to decide whether to give his authorisation for the project to move forward.

As surprising as it may seem, it appears that the Nissan GT-R is facing the news that the Japanese company does not yet have any specific plans regarding the next generation, so it has been called into question whether the venerable sports car from the brand will continue.
After a series of investigations by Inside Line, it has been concluded that Nissan has not yet done anything about the arrival of the next generation of the GT-R (R36). Furthermore, Carlos Ghosn has still not given the working teams at Nissan authorisation to start work on the next model. And even if he gave his approval right now, the new model would not be ready before 2015.
What could be going through Ghosn’s mind? It seems the Nissan Leaf has a lot to do with the matter, since Nissan has made a huge investment to put the Leaf on the streets; the problem is that the electric car is not selling particularly well, so for the time being they appear to prefer to focus more on getting the Leaf off the ground, rather than fully committing to a new generation of the sports car.
Some gossips have mentioned that the delay is due to the next GT-R being a hybrid and that they need a little more time to fine-tune all the technology needed so that the GT-R remains a car that is in the spotlight for the brand. I would not be surprised at all by this decision, considering that Honda is also heading towards a hybrid with its upcoming NSX.
