The Nissan LEAF 2026 will introduce Plug&Charge compatibility with the Electrify America charging network
Charging the new Nissan LEAF 2026 at an Electrify America charging point will be as simple as plugging in the cable and you’re good to go.
Electrify America, one of the leading operators of electric vehicle charging points in the United States, has taken a new step forward in rolling out the Plug&Charge feature in partnership with Nissan. The collaboration between the two companies will allow the new Nissan LEAF 2026 to become the first model from the Japanese brand to incorporate this technology, although more models are expected to follow in the future.
The Plug&Charge feature from Electrify America is based on the ISO 15118 standard, which enables advanced communication between the vehicle and the power grid. Thanks to this technology, drivers can connect their vehicle to a compatible charger and pay automatically, without the need for cards, external apps or other payment methods. Only an initial registration through the MyNISSAN app is required, after which the vehicle communicates directly with the charger to authenticate itself and process the payment, offering a simpler and more efficient charging experience.

Electrify America stands out for being a pioneer in implementing this technology in the North American market, becoming in 2020 the first public charging network to offer Plug&Charge to multiple electric vehicle brands. The company currently works with well-known manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Ford, Lucid, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen, and now Nissan joins them.
It will make your life easier if you drive a LEAF 2026
Electrify America says this alliance represents an important step forward in its goal of simplifying the experience of electric vehicle owners.
“We are excited to welcome Nissan to our network of manufacturers adopting this technology. Together, we deliver a seamless charging experience focused on the needs of drivers.”

It is worth noting that Electrify America is not the only operator offering Plug&Charge based on the ISO 15118 standard in the North American market. Other companies such as Hubject, Ionna and Allego also have similar systems. Therefore, although the Nissan LEAF 2026 does not gain exclusive capability, compatibility with the Electrify America network ensures a more comfortable and practical charging experience for Nissan drivers who use its stations.
With this initiative, Electrify America once again demonstrates its commitment to improving its charging infrastructure and making the transition to electric mobility more accessible and convenient. With the addition of Nissan, the number of vehicles supporting the Plug&Charge feature on the Electrify America network continues to grow, which is always good news.
