The Peugeot 607 goes out of production

We already mentioned it in the road test we recently managed to carry out of the Peugeot 607, a model that, as we have learned, has finally ceased production to make way for the arrival of the Peugeot 508. Besides the lion’s saloon, production of the 407 with petrol engines is also ending (the ones with the lowest demand in Europe), since the 407 will also be replaced by the 508.
The Peugeot 607, as we already covered in the car’s road test, is a executive saloon that at the time had every asset needed to stand up to the German saloons, starting with its 2.7 V6 HDi diesel engine, which it shared with the Jaguar S-Type and XJ. The problem is its age, since the 607 was on the market for 11 years and had not received any changes since 2004.
Sales of the Peugeot 607 were quite good in the first years, but as time went on they declined, and it became a vehicle widely used as an official car (especially in France, where it was the Prime Minister’s car), with hardly any private sales, particularly in its final years, since so far in 2010 only 89 units of the 607 have been sold in Spain.
Now we will wait to see the most exclusive versions of the Peugeot 508, a model we will see up close at the Paris Motor Show and which will most likely go on sale shortly afterwards.
