Although it has only been on the market for two and a half years, this electric model has managed to become one of the most appreciated and sought-after in its segment.
The demands placed on combustion-engine vehicles are causing electric cars to carve out an increasingly significant share of the market. The Polestar 2 arrived just two years and a few months ago and began its expansion across the world, with the challenge of standing up to the Tesla Model 3. It has not managed to outsell this model, but it has earned a place among the preferences of buyers in 27 countries around the world.
Behind Polestar we find brands such as Volvo and Geely. Thanks to the muscle of these two brands, Polestar is managing to win a very important share in those markets. In fact, it has become the fifth best-selling model in the D segment, which also includes the BMW i4 or the Audi A5 with a combustion engine. This position suggests a rise in sales and a generous presence in the market.
In the European market, the Polestar 2 has managed to add 17,994 units so far in 2022. This represents a 63% increase in sales in Europe. The brand wants to exceed the figure of 50,000 units delivered in 2022. That said, this includes sales across all the countries where the car is offered.
The brand’s expectations are that by 2025 total sales of Polestar, across its various models, will reach 290,000 cars. To reach this figure it will rely on the Polestar 2, although it also counts on sales of the Polestar 3, an electric SUV that is also being very well received. Sales figures for this model are expected to reach 65,000 units in 2024.
These models will be followed by the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5. The other model with which they will fight to secure a significant presence in the global market is the Polestar 6, which will become the top of the range.
As for the Polestar 2 number 100,000, it is destined for Ireland. The lucky buyer will have a certificate of this milestone, because the production number is marked on the door of that unit, so it will be preserved for posterity.
