The popular Chinese drone manufacturer DJI is now entering the electric bicycle market

DJI’s new electric bicycles feature as their main selling point an innovative electric drive system developed by the manufacturer itself, which is also integrated into the same frame.

The Chinese company DJI, internationally known for its camera drones, has just launched its own electric bicycle brand, which it has named Amflow. DJI faces a possible ban on its drones in the United States, which has forced the company to diversify its product range into areas not affected by that ban. The Amflow electric mountain bikes, with their innovative Avinox propulsion system, will be presented simultaneously in China and at the Eurobike trade fair this July.

According to various sources, the price of Amflow bicycles in Europe is expected to range between 7,000 and 12,000 euros, and everything points to them going on sale through authorised dealers in the last quarter of this year.

The Amflow electric bicycles feature a surprisingly slim carbon frame that houses the aforementioned DJI Avinox propulsion system. This electric motor weighs just 2.52 kilograms and delivers 250 W of continuous power, as stipulated by European regulations for pedal-assist electric bicycles. However, it can reach up to 850 W at peak output. The manufacturer additionally quotes a torque of 105 Nm.

DJI also equips these bicycles with its own batteries integrated into the frame, with capacities of 600 or 800 Wh and a weight of between 2.7 and 3.6 kilograms. The batteries can be recharged using a 504 W Super Charger with the Chinese company’s proprietary technology, which can bring the battery to 75 percent charge in approximately an hour and a half.

Among the bicycles’ standout features, the Amflow includes a two-inch touchscreen on the top tube, Magura brakes and an Ergon SM Pro saddle. The total weight of the bicycles varies between 19.2 and 21.5 kilograms, depending on the equipment.

According to some industry experts, DJI’s new and innovative Avinox propulsion system for electric bicycles is set to revolutionise a market expected to grow rapidly worldwide in the coming years and which, until now, has been shared among a handful of brands, with Bosch as the outstanding leader among high-end models.
