The Porsche Macan 2019 is here, and you can watch the most striking video from the model's testing

For a year, work has gone into making a better Porsche Macan, so it has been put through numerous tests on terrain as demanding as South Africa

The day is fast approaching when Porsche finally reveals all the details of the Porsche Macan 2019, an update to the German brand’s crossover that will take center stage during the upcoming Paris Motor Show. But you know we are impatient, and we want to get a head start on what they have prepared for us at that presentation, so we have gladly received these images and the video that accompanies them. These are the field tests being carried out in South Africa, where you can see how the German SUV tackles the most demanding terrain in that intricate country.

Bear in mind that these images were taken and distributed by Porsche, so they have taken great care not to reveal more than necessary and spoil the surprise at the French event. We therefore have an image quite similar to the current Porsche Macan, with some parts covered in vinyl wrap and only the minimum elements needed to function properly during testing.

They are working on all the necessary modifications to improve the performance and capabilities of this model, which already has very capable specifications for tackling many difficult terrains without trouble. We expect a redesigned set of lights at the aesthetic level, and other areas have also undergone several changes to give it a different look.

In the time they have spent testing this update of the crossover Porsche Macan, the model has been modified in ways that have improved the various chassis elements, so we will soon have more information about those changes. The novelties will also extend beyond the mechanical side to include safety and driver assistance.

As for engines, the first to arrive will be the petrol units. The Macan is expected to use a four-cylinder engine producing around 300 CV, while the Macan S and Macan Turbo will feature the new 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. All of this will be confirmed soon, but for now we can enjoy this video, showing several units of the Porsche Macan moving through South Africa’s natural landscapes, including a stretch at over 3,400 metres above sea level. And if this looks tough, imagine what they are not showing us and what these cars go through before reaching the market.
