The price of the cheapest Kia Stonic doesn't reach 13,000 euros, and we explain why
The new car market needs a boost and, with examples such as the price of the cheapest Kia Stonic, brands are setting affordable RRPs for their most sought-after models
The Kia Stonic is one of the most popular SUVs. This small crossover combines an urban look with the bearing of a more adventurous vehicle. Its sculpted body and angular lines are complemented by a set of exterior styling elements that give it a rugged image, more suited to a vehicle ready to tackle gravel tracks than to tarmac.
Be that as it may, this car is one of the most popular in Kia’s range, and the price of the cheapest Kia Stonic is one of the reasons why. Basically, we can’t find a car that comes close to 13,000 euros but that, to be honest, buying a new SUV for around 12,000 euros and that is worth the money is difficult today. We have already given you options in the article on the best cheap SUVs, where, with that budget, we propose the three best alternatives.
Be that as it may, the Kia Stonic appears on the brand’s online configurator with a starting price from 12,800 euros, which already includes the 5,725-euro discount applied by the brand. This is the variant that comes with the Concept trim level and has the 1.2 CVVT engine under its bonnet.

- Roof bars
- Audio system with AUX + USB connection
- Connectivity via Android Auto or CarPlay

As for the engine, the cheapest Kia Stonic makes do with a modest four-cylinder unit of 1,248 cubic centimetres, which delivers just 84 CV at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of only 122 Nm from 4,000 rpm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
These are limited capabilities for a car weighing 1,145 kg, with dimensions of 4,140 mm long, 1,760 mm wide and 1,500 mm high. It handles city driving with ease, as we found in our road test of the unit fitted with the 120 CV turbo engine, but it is more strained on fast roads, where it takes 13.2 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 165 km/h.
Its interior capacity should also be considered: it offers 332 litres of boot space, a correct volume for everyday routines but tight for carrying bulky or varied loads over long distances, despite its 2+3 seating layout, where the rear seats compromise the comfort of occupants who are 1.8 metres tall or more.
Its homologated combined consumption is 6.8 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres, with a maximum of 7.9 at low speeds and 5.9 at high speeds. Carbon dioxide emissions are rated at 154 g CO2/km, which puts this car at risk with respect to the EU limit on this gas from 2021.
