The Saab 9-4X will not have diesel engines

In the end, Saab’s decision regarding the 9-4X will be to remain faithful to petrol V6 engines, since the Swedish company has decided that the model will not have diesel engines. Neither now nor, probably, ever.
From the upper echelons of the company, the reasons behind this decision were announced, even knowing that this will considerably hurt sales levels in Europe, home to great popularity for diesel engines. And the main reason is the lack of development time, with respect to the useful life of the model.
Saab says that if you take the lifespan of a model, roughly 5 or 6 years, choosing a diesel engine, its research, technical testing and so on, would take a good part of that useful life. And, at the end of the day, the remaining period would not be enough to bring the brand the dividends it hopes to get from the diesel model.
Thus the plans move forward, only with the 265 and 300 horsepower V6 engines, to go on sale in May in the USA and in August in Europe.
