SUVs are among the most anticipated launches of the year. Just look at the excitement we had before summer to see the new Seat Ateca, so we fully understand why the new Skoda model is generating the same level of anticipation. The Skoda Kodiaq has been showing some of its features bit by bit, letting us see both the exterior and the interior, but we were missing a good gallery of images and details about its launch. And now it’s here.

The Kodiaq is the first SUV from Skoda, but although it opens a new range, it is perfectly recognisable thanks to the design language of the Czech brand. Its robust yet dynamic look makes the car feel ideal for driving through city streets and unpaved mountain tracks. Its size also allows it to be used by families, with capacity for up to seven people, which makes it an elegant and attractive all-terrain vehicle.

Designed for the city and off-road

In terms of figures, the Skoda Kodiaq has a length of 4,697 mm, while its width is 1,882 mm and its height, including the roof bars, is 1,676 mm. The wheelbase is 2,791 mm, which allows a spacious and comfortable interior where up to seven people can be accommodated. Its construction makes it very resistant and safe in the event of an accident, something to consider when facing off-road conditions.

Inside, there is a space with a length of 1,793 mm, offering a little more room than is common in this type of SUV. As options, it features ambient lighting in the doors that can be adjusted in ten different colours, along with leather and Alcantara upholstery.

The boot has a capacity ranging from 720 to 2,065 litres, depending on whether all the seats are up or folded down. The tailgate can be opened with a button inside the cabin or by moving your foot under the bumper, which makes it very practical to use.

Connected and safe for better driving

In terms of connectivity, the driver assistance system offers a range of tools that allow the car to be driven even more safely and efficiently. For connectivity, this new Skoda model is equipped with the proprietary Skoda Connect system, which uses the same tools found in the brand’s high-end cars. The available screens range from 6 inches in the Swing version up to 8 inches in the Columbus version, with several improved and enhanced features.

Five engines for maximum efficiency

A great car that has finally arrived and will offer buyers a choice of several engines. In total there will be five powertrains, two TDI and three TSI. These range from 1.2 to 2.0 litres with power output between 125 and 190 CV. All five units use turbocharging and direct injection, with Stop&Start and brake energy recovery, offering efficiency well suited to these times of emissions and fuel savings.

As for transmission, a six-speed manual and a six- or seven-speed DSG are available, depending on the engine and the driver’s preferences. There are also several driving modes, which allow the vehicle’s settings to be adapted to the terrain and to match driving demands to road conditions.

We can now see the car well in an extensive image gallery, and it will soon be in dealerships. The wait has been long, but it has been worth it. What do you think of the Skoda Kodiaq?
