The ŠKODA Octavia has recently received a tune-up, with light changes that have nonetheless given it a different look. Above all, at the front. With this facelift, the Czech company has decided to equip the Octavia with more technology, and although it seemed the update was complete, it has just announced that there is still something left to do on the model.

The next change will take place in mid-year, and rather than a change, it will be an addition to the range. It will take the form of a new four-cylinder, 1.5-litre turbocharged unit, which will join the available engine line-up. This engine is inherited from another model in the Volkswagen group, namely the Golf, so it is thoroughly proven and validated to deliver an excellent driving experience.

In the German model, this engine delivers a power output of 150 CV and features the intelligent Active Cylinder Management system, which can deactivate two cylinders when they are not needed, to save fuel considerably. In the Octavia’s case, it may not reach that output, but it will go up to 128 CV, the same power this engine offers in the Bluemotion version of the Golf. In the first case, the consumption recorded for the Golf is 4.9 litres per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 110 g/km.

Moving to the 128 CV output, consumption is slightly lower, at 4.6 litres per 100 kilometres, and emissions are also somewhat lower, at 104 grams per kilometre. This engine will broaden the Octavia’s range, allowing prospective buyers to choose among the different engine options the one that best suits their needs and tastes in terms of power and driving comfort. From the second half of this year, this engine will be among the Octavia’s options and can be enjoyed.
