The Smart #3 already has a price in China and gives us a hint for Spain: it won't be cheap

For some time now, the German brand Smart has stopped being a maker of cheap city cars and has become a premium brand. The first model to come out of this new stage is the Smart #1, which has become an interesting electric SUV aimed at buyers who want something more.

The price of the Smart #1 sits between 42,100 euros and 49,600 euros, depending on the trim level. The Smart #3 is somewhat larger, so it will cost more, with performance that also sits above the entry model. This model has already opened its order books in China, and we have been able to learn the sale price it has launched at.

Smart #3, the brand’s second model

After putting the first model on sale, we have found that the sale price in Spain is double what is offered in China. There it cost about 23,800 euros, so we can expect the price of the Smart #3 to follow a similar path to that of this variant.

In China it has been put on sale in four trim levels: Pro+, Pulse AWD, First Edition and Brabus. The entry level will have a range of about 480 kilometres on the WLTP cycle and an engine with a power equivalent to 272 CV. In this case, the cheapest model sits at 209,900 yuan, which is equivalent to about 27,500 euros.

This means that in Spain the entry model of the Smart #3 will cost around 48,000 euros. Following this pattern, the Brabus version, which represents the top of the range, is expected to cost well over 50,000 euros. This will place it alongside SUVs such as the Mercedes EQA, the Audi Q4 e-tron or the BMW iX1.

When will we know how much a Smart #3 will cost in Spain? We will have to wait until it reaches our market. This will happen during the first half of 2024, so we should not have to wait long to learn the final price and the versions we will have in our market.
