The sports car coming from Audi: R10?

Audi is reportedly developing a diesel sports car with an energy recovery system similar to the one it uses on the Audi e-tron Quattro in the World Endurance Championship. Even so, the German brand has not given further details on the matter.

Audi will use much of the technology it has developed and deployed in competition to create a diesel super sports car. But it seems it will not only use the technology: we could also be looking at a sports car with quite radical styling that has a direct predecessor in the R8 V12 TDI.

The development of this sports car depends on everything the brand has achieved in using the energy recovery system of the R18 e-tron Quattro in the World Endurance Championship, although the brand has not explained more technical details.

Within what might be expected, it is also added that Audi could come with a carbon fibre body and a diesel engine no bigger than a V8, equipped with an energy recovery flywheel.

The same recovery system delivers more power on the exit of corners to the competition car, by means of two electric motors located on the front axle, when speed is above 118 km/h.
