The Tesla Model X humiliates the Lamborghini Aventador in a drag race
The Tesla Model X covered the quarter mile in 11.41 seconds, becoming the fastest SUV over that distance.
As a good SUV, the Tesla Model X is stealing customers from many of its rivals in other market segments, but we never imagined it could put in check a full-blown supercar like the Lamborghini Aventador in acceleration, that is, on its own turf.
We are of course talking about the most performance-oriented version of Tesla Model X, the P100D version, a variant that has already humiliated more than one supercar before with its incredible acceleration. This time, the victim of the Tesla SUV was the Lamborghini Aventador SV, and the showdown took place in a ¼-mile drag race.
The venue for this interesting drag race was Palm Beach International Raceway. Interestingly, the driver of the Lamborghini was also the owner of a Tesla Model S P100D, so he surely knew what was coming.

As expected, the Tesla Model X left the Lamborghini Aventador far behind at the start, but as the meters went by the Italian supercar closed the gap until it was just a few metres behind the American model as they crossed the finish line. The win by the Tesla SUV over the Lamborghini is surprising, but that’s not the end of it. Apparently, the electric SUV reportedly covered the quarter mile in 11.41 seconds, which would mean a world acceleration record among production SUVs.
Interestingly, the Model X achieved this feat with a 78% state of charge, which seems inconceivable given that Tesla vehicles perform better with a fully charged battery.
If you want to see how the same Lamborghini Aventador compares in a drag race against the all-powerful Tesla Model S P100D, here is a video. We will only say that the American model’s quarter-mile time is under 11 seconds.
