The Tesla Model Y will get a cheaper entry-level version in Europe
Tesla has prepared a cheaper configuration of the Model Y, with more modest performance, but quite attractive and at a much lower price.

The Tesla Model Y has just unveiled a new entry-level version of the range, which will come with a much lower price than it has had until now. And it is that Tesla wants its models to remain the best-selling among electric vehicles. The new Tesla Model Y presents this new configuration on the brand’s website, but only for the European market.
Until now, the entry-level version of the Tesla Model Y was the Long Range, but with the new configuration, this becomes the second option. The price of that entry segment was 65,990 euros, but with this new iteration the price drops to 51,200 euros. This represents a little over 15,000 euros, so it is a very good reason to take a closer look at the model.

Obviously, the performance of this variant is somewhat lower than that of the one we knew until now. The battery is reduced to 55 kWh, so the range is also reduced. This is also determined by the size of the wheels. The 19-inch wheels allow a range of 455 kilometres on a single charge under the WLTP cycle. If the wheels are 20 inches, which are optional, the range drops to 430 kilometres, also under the WLTP cycle.
The cheapest version has a single motor, located on the rear axle, so it does not offer all-wheel drive. Another unconfirmed detail is that the batteries this version will offer will not be the NCM (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) ones fitted to the other versions, but lithium iron phosphate batteries. These do not have the same characteristics as the others and are surely one of the main reasons for the price reduction.
The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h has increased to 6.9 seconds, compared with the 5 seconds of the higher version. That said, the top speed remains limited to 217 km/h.
As for the delivery date of this version, Tesla states that this new version will be available for deliveries between December of this year and February 2023. As for the other version, it is not expected to be delivered until a period between January and March 2023. It is also not known where this version will be produced, although it is expected to be manufactured in China and not at the Berlin gigafactory.
