This individual forgot that pick-ups are not built to fly
This young man destroys his Ford Raptor after jumping like a pure dune buggy. Health authorities advise against imitating him.
Everyone knows that a pick-up is not built to survive big jumps, although there is always someone who learns the hard way. The protagonist of this video, Hemet Huckfest, performs a jump with his Ford Raptor on the flat ground of a desert town east of San Diego (California, USA).
After a flight of roughly one second, this young off-road enthusiast’s pick-up could not withstand the impact on landing. The front axle collapsed, causing damage to the steering, front bumper and suspension, undoubtedly a fairly costly repair for a jump of such magnitude. As with everything in life, you have to know what resources you have at your disposal. The same manoeuvre at the controls of a buggy would have had a very different outcome.
Nevertheless, young Hemet seems proud of the incident, and he wasted no time posting a video and images on his Instagram account. It seems that for some, the fame gained on social media makes up for wrecking a Ford Raptor.
Do you think young Hemet is a hero, or could he have avoided wrecking his van? Give us your opinion
