This is how you will control your electric car from your mobile phone

The Group Hyundai will let you control the performance of your electric car from your smartphone, including power, torque or speed limits.

Nowadays it is already possible to control many functions of a vehicle from a mobile phone. Almost all brands offer apps with which you can lock or unlock the car remotely, check where it was parked…

And in the case of electric cars, the smartphone extends this range of action with a very important feature: the remote control of the charging process, including also the possibility of remotely activating the cabin climate control, among other things.

With this system, electric car users will be able to create performance profiles and choose the one that best suits the type of driving they are going to do.

But with its Hyundai Kona EV and Hyundai Ioniq on the one hand, or the Kia e-Niro and Kia e-Soul on the other, already on the market, plus everything still to come, the Group has developed a new performance control technology for its electric cars that will soon be available to its customers.

Power on demand

With this feature, the Group Hyundai goes further, opening new possibilities for electric car users, who will be able to use customised configurations for their vehicles, and even share them online with users of other vehicles, always with the security offered by blockchain technology.

In this way, it will be possible to adjust up to seven characteristics of the vehicle’s performance, including power and torque, acceleration and deceleration curves, regenerative braking capacity, energy use or even the maximum speed limit.

A private driver, for example, or a car rental company, will therefore be able to create custom profiles depending on the type of use the car will have, or the driver who is going to drive it.

In addition, the app not only offers optimised configurations and suggests them to the driver so that they reach the chosen destination based on the remaining distance and the efficient use of electrical energy. It is also possible to download and use configurations recommended by the brand depending on road or traffic conditions for a given route.

The whole process is secure thanks to blockchain technology. The data uploaded to the servers is encrypted and stored in such a way that unauthorised manipulation is not possible.
