Hyundai has developed a completely new Head-Up Display. During the presentation of the Ioniq 5, the brand mentioned that the model would feature a augmented reality windshield display and now, the manufacturer itself has wanted to share more information about this new and revolutionary Head-Up Display. The new Head-Up Display of Hyundai is classified as the world’s first HUD without an instrument cluster.

This new technology aims to increase safety and make better use of the cabin space. This technology comes from the spare parts and services division of Hyundai, which partnered with the company Envisics, which specializes in this type of system. This new Head-Up Display is capable of informing the driver of speed, engine revolutions and even navigation. The brand itself has assured that this system improves the visibility of information on the windshield.

The new Head-Up Display of Hyundai is divided into four display areas, with three in the upper part and one in the lower part. The upper screen areas show speed, rpm, information from the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and navigation, while the lower screen area shows more basic information such as coolant temperature, distance, warning lights, signs and other information.

This revolutionary Head-Up Display has a 15-inch screen, so it is quite large, but the optical glass installed on the dashboard is fixed and can be tilted towards the driver to ensure better visibility. We will have to wait to check whether road visibility is affected by this system, but for now, the main concern is whether sunlight causes glare for the driver.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Crossover

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 may be the first model to equip this novel information system, but we will have to wait a little longer to find out whether it will be the Ioniq 5 or any other model that aims to revolutionize the electric car market.
