Toyota GR Super Sport Concept: the super hybrid from Toyota
Toyota enters the supercar territory with the GR Super Sport Concept, equipped with a hybrid engine producing 1,000 CV of power
Toyota sets out to conquer the high-performance sports car market with the new Toyota GR Super Sport Concept. A car that inherits all of the brand’s experience from the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
For now, the GR Super Sport Concept looks more like a race car for a Le Mans grid than a street car. No wonder: many of its components come directly from the Toyota TS050 Hybrid with which Toyota Gazoo Racing competes in the WEC.

Thus, beneath its bodywork lies a hybrid propulsion system with a 2.4-litre petrol V6 engine, as the central part of the Toyota Hybrid System-Racing (THS-R). The combined total power of the system reaches 1,000 CV… and that is as far as we can go, because for now there is no data on its performance, weight or possible market arrival date. What we do have are the images, where those most familiar with competition will recognise the carbon fibre monocoque or the suspensions of the same type as those used on race cars.

What the Toyota GR Super Sport Concept does represent is a clear statement of intent from the Japanese brand, which states that this prototype is the starting point for developing road-going sports cars in the future based on its competition cars. Can you imagine it registered? We can.
