Two McLaren MSO R one-offs built for their owner
McLaren has developed two new supercars, named MSO-R. They are two one-of-a-kind units intended for their lucky owner.

McLaren has always stood out in recent years for delivering the best when it comes to supercars, and this time would be no different. The MSO department (McLaren Special Operations) has created two very special vehicles for one of its best clients, the McLaren MSO R Coupe and Spyder.
MSO has always worked in a very special way, offering its buyers the chance to create a unique and unrepeatable McLaren. If you are among the brand’s best clients, you have the option of choosing a completely exclusive colour from outside the official palette, or creating an interior entirely to your taste, with different types of top-quality materials.
But on this occasion, the special operations department has gone further, creating two completely unique vehicles. These are the McLaren MSO R, one coupe and one spyder version. Both supercars share the same technical specifications and platform. Aesthetically we can identify elements very close to the McLaren 650S, but with slight details from the 675LT, especially inside.

Even so, we should remember that they are not the first McLarens to be developed entirely by MSO; the X-1 holds the honour of that position, since it debuted in 2012. On the other hand, exclusivity in the McLaren MSO R is present from every angle. It features various carbon fibre parts, both on the exterior and interior, and with exclusive MSO colours.
This one-off supercar features a carbon fibre monocoque already used in other vehicles from the British firm. Inside we find bucket seats fully upholstered in Alcantara. The rest of the MSO R’s elements do not differ much from those of its siblings, except for one part: the steering wheel. The wheel of this supercar is wrapped in Alcantara, intended to ensure optimal grip when the lucky owner uses it at high speed, and it also includes carbon fibre inserts.
But there is something very important we have not yet discussed, the heart of the MSO R. Within it we find the already familiar twin-turbo V8, known for powering the 675LT. This V8 produces 679 CV and 700 Nm of torque. The figures this new McLaren achieves are surely impressive as usual, but the supercar’s low weight will also help, achieved thanks to some components built from very light materials, such as its titanium exhaust.

Regarding the owner of both cars, we know no details, as McLaren has kept them anonymous. But we can deduce that the garage of this client of the Woking firm likely houses some of the best sports cars in the world and, surely, there is no shortage of a McLaren P1.
