VinFast announces the launch of the VF 2, an urban electric model

With this launch, VinFast aims to expand its presence in the affordable urban electric vehicle segment.

The Vietnamese manufacturer VinFast has just unveiled the VF 2, a new electric city car aimed primarily at urban use. This model represents a more premium version of the Minio Green, another model in the company’s Green range, geared towards commercial and service uses.

The VF 2 keeps the same dimensions as its commercial sibling, measuring 3.1 metres long, 1.5 metres wide and 1.7 metres high. Its wheelbase is 2.1 metres. Aesthetically, its exterior design is very similar, although VinFast has introduced some changes to give it a more attractive look aimed at private use. Among these differences, a false upper grille painted in body colour stands out, along with the removal of the chrome trim on the horizontal strips forming a V-shaped motif around the logo, and at the rear, a gloss black spoiler.

Inside, the VF 2 retains the design, colours and materials of the Minio Green. It is a two-door hatchback with seating for four occupants. Its equipment includes manual air conditioning, a driver’s seat manually adjustable in four directions, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an FM radio system with two speakers. In terms of safety, it features a driver airbag, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and traction control (TCS).

Technical specifications in line with what is to be expected from a vehicle like this one

Mechanically, the VF 2 has a single electric motor on the rear axle delivering 30 kW of power and 65 Nm of torque. It offers two driving modes -Eco and Normal- and reaches a top speed of 80 km/h. Its 18.3 kWh battery provides a range of 210 kilometres. It supports fast charging of up to 24 kW, allowing it to go from 10 to 70 percent capacity in approximately 34 minutes.

One of the most notable elements of this new model is its price. VinFast has positioned the VF 2 below the Minio Green. Thus, while the latter sells for 269 million dong on its local market -around 8,953 euros-, the VF 2 costs 188 million dong -approximately 6,257 euros-. In addition, customers who place their order between 15 and 17 July will receive a discount of 8 million dong -about 266 euros-. As an extra incentive, the brand will also offer ten free charging sessions per month at public V-Green stations in Vietnam until 10 February 2029.
