Volkswagen Beetle Connection: the integration of technology into the vehicle

The integration of technology into the vehicle is taking on an increasingly prominent role, and this will shape the future of the automotive industry. That is why Volkswagen has sought to innovate in such a way that it has created the new Beetle Connection. This vehicle is a version of the brand’s iconic model but, in addition, incorporates the first integrated connection device from Volkswagen for iPhone 4 or 5.
The Volkswagen Beetle Connection comes with a standard holder in the centre of the dashboard, where the iPhone is docked and becomes one more instrument, giving the driver access to the vehicle’s main parameters.
The connection between the iPhone and the Beetle Connection is made through the “Volkswagen Car-Net The Beetle” app, which can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store. Once the device is connected, the driver can check vehicle-related data (oil and coolant temperature, distance travelled, trip duration or average consumption). This information is stored, so the driver can consult it whenever they want.

Another of the app’s functions is listening to music via Spotify, as well as accessing social networks such as Facebook or Twitter, with the ability to receive notifications and read messages. The information is read aloud so that the driver does not get distracted by looking at the device. Another function is showing the exact location of the Beetle via GPS.
The user can access their message history on social networks and the songs listened to on Spotify when the iPhone is not connected to the Beetle. They can also view all the details of their journeys and earn “rewards” for reaching certain achievements set by the app.
On the other hand, the Volkswagen Beetle Connection stands out for its standard equipment, which includes 18-inch “Disc” alloy wheels combined with 235/45 R18 tyres, the “Volkswagen” lettering on the tailgate, bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, and the ParkPilot system with front and rear parking sensors.
The Beetle Connection arrives on the market with the following engines: the 1.2 TSI with 105 CV, the 1.6 TDI with 105 CV and the 2.0 TDI with 140 CV, which is also available with the DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Its starting price will be 24,130 euros.
