Volkswagen presents the Caddy 4x4

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles family continues to grow. Now the German brand has just unveiled the Caddy 4Motion, which guarantees safe mobility over the most demanding terrain. All versions of the Caddy (Van, Kombi, Life and Tramper) are available with 4×4 traction.
This vehicle is equipped with a 1.9 TDI engine producing 105 CV and a six-speed manual gearbox with standard DPF particulate filter and offers optimised performance. In addition, this performance is combined with moderate consumption and emissions.
The van version of the Caddy 4Motion consumes 6.6 litres of diesel on the combined cycle, while the Life version has an average consumption of 6.7 litres. Both reach a top speed of 164 km/h, with CO2 emissions of 172 g/km in the first case and 176 g/km in the second.
The Volkswagen 4Motion system, which was introduced two years ago across the rest of the range, is available for the first time on the Caddy. It works through the Haldex electronic clutch and offers the highest levels of safety and driving dynamics.
The Haldex is mounted directly on the front axle, is a multi-plate oil-bathed clutch and offers a rapid response as it is electronically controlled. When differences in rotational speed are detected between the vehicle’s two axles, the system couples both axles and distributes and controls the flow of power to each of them. The Haldex enhances the effectiveness of safety systems such as the ABS braking system.
Volkswagen is one of the few manufacturers to back compact 4×4 commercial vehicles. In our country these versions hold a minimal market share. Sale prices start at 23,936 euros for the Caddy 4Motion Van – with a maximum load volume of 3.2 cubic metres or 795 kilos – and rise to 29,954 for the Tramper.
