Volkswagen to buy part of Karmann

One of the longest-standing car companies in the world, which recently faced the much-feared bankruptcy, will be partially acquired by Volkswagen, who will bring the legendary German coachbuilder back to life.
Karmann, founded in 1874 and which built the Karmann Ghia with Volkswagen technology, in addition to bodying special models for Porsche, BMW, Renault, Chrysler and Ford, will receive 26,000 million euros from Volkswagen over the next three years. VW’s goal is to begin developing a new model using Karmann’s facilities.
For those who believe the Karmann Ghia could be brought back to life, the decision does not specify whether Volkswagen would be willing to have the Karmann Ghia return to production, but we will see yet another model from the prolific Volkswagen, which would add one more brand to its holding.
