On January 3, Volkswagen will reveal the new electrified member of the ID. family

The electrified family of Volkswagen continues to expand as the company has announced plans to unveil its next electric car on January 3. The carmaker is keeping the details under wraps, but it has assured that it will show a camouflaged version of the vehicle on that date and reveal its name. Following the announcement, the company will invite attendees at CES to “experience the next step in the electrification journey of Volkswagen” on January 5.
It’s not much to go on, but Volkswagen may show its concept called Aero. This is only a guess, but the company revealed the ID Aero Concept in June as a preview of the brand’s first global electric sedan, which will be offered in China, Europe and the United States.
Several questions remain open, but the concept was a mid-size premium sedan built on the MEB platform and featured a lithium-ion battery pack of 77 kWh that allowed ranges of up to 620 km under the WLTP cycle. The concept also had an aerodynamic design, which allowed a low drag coefficient of 0.23.

The German brand expects the future ID.7 to become a major success. It may well look very similar to the spy images photographers captured in recent weeks. The model we will see will not be as extreme as the concept, but it features an aerodynamic design with smooth lines, flush-mounted door handles and aerodynamically optimized wheels. Inside, there will be a digital instrument cluster and a large, standalone infotainment system.
Specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the US model could echo the ID.4 and offer a rear-wheel-drive variant with 150 kW / 204 CV. It could be joined by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 220 kW / 299 CV.
