Volvo delivered the first units of the EX30 electric SUV in November

With the EX30, Volvo embarks on a new path in its commitment to electric mobility, with a far more attractive proposition that is sure to draw the attention of the public

The Swedish manufacturer, owned by Chinese automotive giant Geely, has just announced the results the company achieved during November. Volvo states that it sold a total of 63,682 vehicles worldwide that month, an 8 per cent increase over the same month last year. As a result, Volvo’s total sales for the first eleven months of the year now stand at 632,701 vehicles, up 17 per cent on the same period in 2022.

This is very good news for the company, although it has been held back by an 8 per cent drop in sales of plug-in models compared with November 2022. The total sales figure for this category was 22,948 units. It is also worth noting that not only did plug-in hybrid sales fall by 14 per cent, but so did pure electric sales, although to a lesser extent, by just 3 per cent.

One notable point from the information provided by the Swedish manufacturer is that Volvo has confirmed the delivery of the first 33 units of its new urban electric SUV, the EX30. This is an important step for the company, as this model is the first of the brand’s new generation of electric vehicles, which will reach the market over the coming months throughout 2024.

Volvo’s results in its three main markets

As is usual, the majority of Volvo’s plug-in model sales came from the European market, accounting for 55 per cent of the total and 14,653 units. That said, we should not overlook the fact that sales of this type of vehicle in the North American market rose by 10 per cent to 3,038 units, while in China they remained quite low, with just 1,343 units sold.

The Swedish manufacturer’s current pure electric range includes three models: the C40 Recharge, the XC40 Recharge and the new EX30. As we have already noted, Volvo says it sold 33 units of the latter last November, while sales of the first two were 2,991 and 7,007 units, respectively.
