Volvo introduces Polestar Engineered: performance hybrids with more than 400 CV
Volvo has launched a new line of performance hybrid products that will use the technology of Polestar. The new Volvo S60 will be the first to receive this version.
Volvo has presented a new product line based on the technology of Polestar, its recently launched sister brand. Under the name Polestar Engineered, a new batch of performance versions is born, which will turn the Volvo hybrid cars into much more exciting models. These variants will fit a hybrid propulsion system with more than 400 CV and significant improvements in design, engine electronics, chassis and equipment. The Polestar Engineered line will be positioned above the most powerful Volvo R-Design models and will only be available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain of the new Volvo S60, XC60 and V60.
Volvo S60: the first Volvo with Polestar Engineered technology
The first Volvo model to receive Polestar Engineered technology will be the newly launched S60. On June 20th the Swedish brand will unveil the saloon in this version, as announced in the previous video. From next year this technology will also be available on the Volvo V60 (estate) and XC60. The Polestar Engineered models may be purchased worldwide and in a limited series of units through Volvo dealerships or through the brand’s subscription service, Care by Volvo.
Sport suspension
All Polestar Engineered versions of Volvo will fit a multi-link suspension on both the front and rear axles. Öhlins dampers and a dual-flow valve increase the stiffness of the springs without reducing comfort. Furthermore, the design of the reinforcement bar and the adjustable dampers are the same as those offered on the Polestar 1, the first high-performance plug-in hybrid vehicle presented by Volvo’s sister brand.
High-performance wheels and brakes

The lightweight wheels have an open design, allowing a clear view of the eye-catching Brembo brake calipers finished in gold, the new distinctive colour of Polestar Engineered components. The Polestar badges placed along the car, the exhaust tailpipes finished in black chrome and the gold seatbelts complete the list of distinctive elements of Polestar Engineered models.

T8 plug-in hybrid engine with enhanced performance
The Polestar Engineered versions incorporate the T8 Twin Engine engine from Volvo, a powertrain that in the Volvo S60 produces 400 CV of power and 640 Nm of torque, but in this sporty version its performance is enhanced up to 415 CV and 670 Nm. This increase is due to a new electronic programming of the engine control unit, which also contributes to an improvement in consumption, emissions and optimisation of automatic gear selection.
