Porsche Electric Cars Industry
While Spain has yet to reach minimum infrastructure, Germany is inaugurating this charging station for Porsche
This station is located in Germany and only the brand’s customers will be able to access it, where they can charge their cars and enjoy a rest area.
We already know that the charging station infrastructure in Spain is still in a very precarious state. A great deal of work remains to be done, and more stations need to keep opening throughout the Spanish geography. However, other European countries are doing their homework and are advancing much faster in this regard. We need to look at Germany, where the major brands are opening very large charging stations with plenty of capacity for large electric models.
In the city of Bingen am Rhein, located a couple of minutes from the Autobahn A60/A6, a large electric car charging plant has been inaugurated. It was set up by Porsche and will be dedicated, at least for now, to the customers of its electric cars. That is to say, it is not open to the public, but only for drivers of the brand’s models, and it is called the Porsche Charging Lounge.

Here they will find six fast DC charging points, with a maximum power of 300 kW, although it is expected to reach 400 kW later on. Batteries can also be charged at four points supplied with AC electricity, with a power of 22 kW.
To power these charging points, the electricity is generated through a network of solar panels located on the roof and “certified” renewable sources, according to the brand. These facilities will be open every day, and they do not only offer the possibility of charging cars.

Premium services for Porsche drivers
Porsche is a premium brand, so the services found at this charging station are in the category its customers expect. While charging, they have access to a café area, with coffee, soft drinks and snacks. There are also restrooms and access to exclusive Porsche multimedia content.
The entire charging process is automated, so when the car arrives, the barrier is raised, the driver connects the charger and, upon completion, the cost of the service is added to the customer’s account. As for the price, although certain add-on services are offered, it is the same as for a standard charger: 0.33 euros/kW.
The network of chargers installed by Porsche continues to grow, with facilities like this one and others that allow Porsche users to enjoy more special treatment during the charging process. In addition, there is an extensive network of destination chargers, that is, at hotels, restaurants and other places where the brand’s customers can go to charge their electric cars.
