This Sunday the XX Vigo Motor Show 2011 came to an end with a total of more than 100,000 visitors who attended the show to see the new vehicles, Racingshow or the used vehicles that were also present during the event.

It also closed with a good business volume, with approximately 30 million euros, depending on the transactions carried out and the contacts made at the show, with mid-range vehicles priced between 10,000 and 25,000 euros being the clear winners. But beyond the official figures, we must review the highlights that were on display there.

Subaru Trezia

We start with a national first, we are talking about the Subaru Trezia, which was presented in Vigo before the rest of Spain, where it will be shown at the Barcelona Show in a few days. This compact MPV is Subaru’s bet on a segment that is gaining more and more followers, and it will be available with two engines: a 98 CV petrol and a 90 CV diesel.

BMW Serie 6 Cabrio

Another highlight present at the Vigo event was the BMW Serie 6 Cabrio, a model that has just been unveiled and represents the renewal of the well-known Bavarian convertible. It is a model that impresses above all up close, where, besides its lines, the high level of equipment and the advanced technology it carries also stand out.

Mercedes SLK, Clase C Coupé and Vito electric

Another stand with important novelties was that of Mercedes, where we could see live the renewed SLK, the new Clase C Coupé and even an electric Vito, one of the first units to be made available under a leasing scheme.

Of the SLK, the new exterior line, much sportier than the previous model, and its interior, with some details reminiscent of the SLS (which was also present at the Vigo event), deserve special mention. On the other hand, the Clase C Coupé was one of the most notable novelties, with a design that leaves no one indifferent and attracted a large number of visitors.

Audi A6

Premium brands took most of the novelties, because if earlier we told you about Mercedes, Audi did not fall behind either and showed the renewed Audi A6, a saloon with which to keep competing in a tough segment, but which arrives renewed, with more advanced equipment and a sportier, more personal design than the previous generation. We also got a close look at the Audi A7 and the Audi A1 as the most recent novelties that the German firm has presented.

Other novelties and Citroën retrospective

Among the other novelties at the show was the new Kia Picanto, which gains design and equipment, and which will undoubtedly be an important vehicle in sales for Kia.

Ecology was not only present with the electric Vito, but also with the new Lexus CT200h, or the Citroën C-Zero. A highlight this year was the Citroën vehicle retrospective, where we could take a trip through history with legendary models from the French manufacturer.

Racingshow

To wrap up the review of the XX Vigo Motor Show 2011, I cannot forget the Racingshow, the spectacle event where attendees could enjoy the feats behind the wheel of the drivers, and where I must highlight the presence of the Ford Transit, which was undoubtedly one of the vehicles that surprised the public the most.

The winner of this edition was Markku Alen, FIA Rally Drivers’ Cup champion in 1978 and runner-up in the World Rally Championship in 1986 and 1988. Meanwhile, another of the guest stars, the Portuguese José Pedro Fontes, came second. Completing the podium was Manuel Inacio, who finished third.
