You can now book the Jeep Compass 4xe First Edition, the new plug-in hybrid SUV from the brand
The new Jeep Compass 4xe has arrived, a new plug-in hybrid SUV with a DGT Zero Emissions label and 240 CV of power
Jeep is starting the electrification process of its range, and has therefore announced its first two plug-in hybrid models: the Jeep Renegade 4xe and its bigger brother, the Jeep Compass 4xe.
These new plug-in hybrid SUVs arrive at a time when this type of powertrain is booming, and it is no small number of PHEVs arriving this year. Focusing on today’s protagonist, the Jeep Compass 4xe, it will have to face rivals such as the Ford Kuga PHEV or the Toyota RAV4 PHEV.
As with its smaller sibling, the Jeep Compass plug-in hybrid will arrive with an interesting launch special edition called First Edition. It will come with extensive standard equipment including a Wallbox, a 5-year warranty extension and a complete equipment list.
This launch edition will be available in two trims: the first will be called First Edition Urban and is more focused on use on asphalt. The second trim is the First Edition Off-Road and, as its name suggests, has a more adventurous character, drawing on the Trailhawk equipment level.
The new Jeep Compass 4xe will have a 50 km electric range
To achieve its plug-in hybrid nature, the Jeep Compass 4xe uses a powertrain made up of a 180 CV 1.3 Turbo petrol engine that drives the front axle, while on the rear axle there is an electric motor that adds another 60 CV to the total. In this way, the new plug-in hybrid SUV from the brand achieves four-wheel drive.
When both motors work together, the total output of the Jeep Compass 4xe reaches an impressive 240 CV. Furthermore, to power the electric motor, it has an 11.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, giving it an electric range of 50 kilometres, a figure sufficient to obtain the DGT Zero Emissions label.
To manage the power, the new Jeep PHEV offers the driver three operating modes. The first is called Hybrid and ensures a perfect balance between the combustion and electric motors. Another mode is called E-Save, which disconnects the electric motor from the equation to preserve its range for when we need it, for example to enter the city centre. Finally, there is the Full Electric programme, with which we can move using only the electric part of the powertrain at speeds of up to 130 km/h.
The price of the Jeep Compass 4xe First Edition starts at 44,900 euros, so you can book it until 9 March by leaving a deposit of 500 euros. Once this order window closes, this powertrain will become available across the rest of the range’s equipment levels.
