Zagato Mostro, an exclusive model that only five buyers will enjoy

Every so often, a model appears that is simply so spectacular that it is extremely difficult to get hold of one. These are cars born from exclusive manufacturers or designers, which turn these models into museum pieces that, from the moment they are designed, usually have buyers with names and surnames. At events such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, several of them are usually on display, and this year the one that seems set to be crowned as one of the most spectacular will be the Zagato Maserati Mostro.

This spectacular vehicle takes as its design basis another of the great cars that has been part of the Italian company’s extensive catalogue, the Maserati 450 S, which hit the market in 1957. It was designed to be driven at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so it could never be seen on public roads, as it was built to give everything in competition. This tribute to the model arrives in the year Maserati celebrates its first 100 years on the market, and it pays homage to the prestigious brand’s history.

This model is also designed for track use, not for the road. Even so, it is rumoured that it could be homologated for use off the track too, which would be quite a sight. It is built around a carbon-fibre monocoque and is powered by a Maserati V8 engine, presumably of 4.7 litres, mounted at the front. The gearbox is located behind the front axle and is a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox in a transaxle layout.

As mentioned above, this spectacular model will have only five units, all of which have already been sold, and whose price has not been made public. Considering that it is an exclusive car, featuring top-quality materials and designed to impress on the track, it will certainly not be something within reach of the average person.
