The Japanese manufacturer will showcase many new features at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which will be open to the public from March 4 to 14. It had previously announced that the redesigned Mazda 5 and 6 would be presented at the event, and now there is another addition: a limited edition of the small MX-5 roadster, celebrating its 20th birthday.

The Japanese roadster can boast of being the best-selling in history, and it has good reasons for that. To commemorate this important milestone, Mazda has equipped the MX-5 with chrome trim on the edge of the front grille, the door handles and around the front headlight surrounds; it also features silver paint for the area housing the fog lights, side badges reading “20th Anniversary” above the indicators, and specific 17-inch alloy wheels.

The available colours for this limited edition will be three: True Red, Crystal Pearl White and a new colour exclusive to the anniversary series, Aurora Blue. Likewise, the cabin will have some elements painted in the same colour as the bodywork to match the black of the rest. In addition, a strut brace has been added for a sportier drive.

The engine powering the MX-5 20th Anniversary will be the 1.8 with 126 CV. It will come by default with a soft top and will include an exclusive metal plaque bearing the number of the unit produced. Specifically, 2,000 units will be built, all destined for Europe. Mazda has not yet announced the prices of the special edition.
