2008 Plymouth Cuda Concept by Rafael Reston

In a short time we will see the wars between American muscle cars return. The Mustang de Ford is facing new rivals such as the all-new Chevrolet Camaro, the Dodge Challenger And a new Plymouth Barracuda? Unfortunately, we are going to be left wanting, since the prototype you see above does not form part of Plymouth’s plans. It was designed by Rafael Reston and tries to show us what the Barracuda would look like in these times. It is not the first one, since we also saw another concept at the SEMA Show.
The design keeps the grille of its 1970 sibling, and tall sides with muscular shapes that are nonetheless quite stylised, with a more refined sporty look (concept, I repeat, concept, it cannot be taken into account). Serious Wheels provides so many details that it seems this model really exists… but the harsh reality is that it does not. If it were real, they indicate it would carry a 330 V8 producing 671 horsepower. I do not know whether the gap it would fill in the market alongside the other three mentioned above would be large enough to deliver satisfactory financial results, but frankly… it is a shame that Plymouth does not bring it back to life. Well, that is what happens when buyers have changing tastes, expensive fuel and growing environmental awareness.
More photos of the prototype after the jump.
