50,000 Nissan Leaf units sold reached
The total of 50,000 units of the Nissan Leaf sold worldwide has been reached.

There is no doubt that one of the most popular electric cars is the Nissan Leaf. The figures speak for themselves: in the two years it has been on the market, a total of 50,000 units of this model have been sold. But curiously, despite being a historic moment for electric motoring, Nissan had expected to sell more units.
In Europe there are only around 7,000 Leafs on the roads. Interestingly, the model with the most kilometres under its belt on our continent belongs to a Spaniard: Roberto, a taxi driver from Valladolid who has already covered 43,000 kilometres. And in just one year! If I remember correctly, he is also the first Spanish taxi driver to use an electric car, and has already saved more than 4,500 euros in fuel.
How many kilometres have these Leafs covered?
It turns out there is a Japanese driver who holds the record for covering the most kilometres in a Leaf: a total of 175,000 kilometres. It would be interesting to know how many yen he has saved compared with a combustion engine…
Taking the global tally of the 50,000 units around the world, adding up all the kilometres, we could say they have gone from the Earth to the Sun and almost back, since they have covered 175,000 kilometres in total.
