A Ford E-Transit is converted into an ambulance and begins service in Valencia
A company operating the ambulance service in Valencia has received the first Ford E-Transit converted into a medicalised vehicle for service.

Electric mobility is gaining ground in many areas and is becoming increasingly popular across several sectors. Transport is one of those segments where electric vehicles offering this service can be enjoyed. However, adoption is somewhat slower in other sectors. Ambulance services are one of them. The demands placed on this type of vehicle mean that it is a sector that is still reluctant to use electric vehicles, even though they can be adapted for that purpose.
One of the main companies providing this service in Valencia has just received an electric ambulance, a Ford E-Transit adapted to provide this service. The company operates a fleet of 180 vehicles Ford, and this is the first electric ambulance that will enter service under its banner.

This unit has become the first Ford E-Transit converted into an ambulance in all of Spain, and it could serve as a model for other companies providing this service in other cities. The conversion of this unit was carried out by Indusauto, also based in Valencia.
Its usefulness as a medicalised vehicle rests on several factors, which were taken into account when creating this ambulance with an electric powertrain. One of the main reasons is that its chassis and bodywork provide ample space for all the medical equipment and healthcare staff, while also giving the person being transported more room to be comfortable.
Another advantage of the Ford E-Transit is that it eliminates the vibrations caused by a combustion engine. This makes for a calmer and less troublesome journey, which benefits both the patient’s wellbeing and the movement of the medical staff. They can carry out their work more comfortably, which helps improve treatment during transport.
It also offers a tracking service, so the control centre can know its location at all times. This means the nearest vehicle can be dispatched to the point of assistance more efficiently. The Ford Pro Telematics system enables more effective fleet management and helps the service be carried out more promptly.
As for range, the Ford E-Transit can cover up to 317 kilometres on a single charge, more than enough to get through a working day with ease. Vehicles of this type will gradually be integrated into ambulance company fleets across Spain, so this kind of vehicle will progressively be found in service in cities everywhere.
